Another week, another successful gambling week. While Jon Rahm struggled on the weekend throwing him outside the top 20, our guy Will Zalatoris propelled himself inside the top 10, with a T-6 finish which made our week in the black.
As the excitement of major championship golf will have to wait for the Masters in November, we travel to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship. Our guy Will Zalatoris after his successful coming out the greater golf world has him at the top of the odds list for this week. Alongside Zalatoris, Canadiens Mackenzie Hughes and Corey Connors fill up the top three spots. With all of the eyes on Zalatoris, we will look outside the top players for a chance to cash in this week. (All odds according to golfodds.com): Favorites: Sam Burns 18/1 - Burns who was featured in golf.com's 2019 magazine entitled, "The Future? Game On!" has yet to find the winner's circle. But if all of the predictions surrounding him come to fruition, it should happen sooner than later. With a weaker field, as most players are taking a break, this should be a good opportunity for the LSU grad to make his mark in the game. Thomas Detry 30/1 - After a dissapointing weekend at the US Open, Detry did happen to play very well at Winged Foot at a very difficult golf course. With a much easier setup, along with the good form the Belgian has shown recently on the PGA Tour, as well as the European Tour, this should be a good chance for Detry to capture a victory, or a Top 20 at the very least. Sepp Straka 35/1 - The 27-year-old Austrian in his third season seems to always be creeping around the Top 20. A guy who doesn't get a lot of television coverage, appears to be a staple of the leaderboard in its third scroll downwards. Straka excelled at the Safeway Open a couple weeks ago with a Top-15 finish to go along with three Top 10s last season. Longshots: Will Gordon 60/1 - While not as long as our guy Will Zalatoris last week, Gordon can't be glossed over. Gordon who earned his PGA Tour Card at the Travler's Champinoship last season with a solo third place became a rooting interest for a lot of people. While Gordon appeared to be the underdog, he is nothing but that. At Vanderbilt, Gordon led the Commodores to the NCAA Championships and in 2019 earned SEC Player of the Year Honors. Justin Suh 125/1 - Like Will Gordon and Sam Burns, Justin Suh has had very high expectations coming out of college. Unlike the to previously mentioned players, Suh has yet to find his bearings on the PGA Tour as of yet. Suh was a four time All- American at USC and holds multiple records at the school, including the most wins in a season (5). Given the weaker field, Suh should be able to make a cut as well as do a little bit more.

Last week, we had some early successes that we are going to try and build upon. If
While Kristoffer Ventura, Chez Reavie, Bud Cauley didn't win the event, their presence at the top of the leaderboard was felt in the wallet leading to a great start for our picks. As it is in fact a major this week, there will be a ton more picks this week with a couple different variations. With the fact that it is a major, the odds are aligning for a very favorite heavy event so in terms of value, we're gonna have to do some digging. (Odds are according to golfodds.com) Players To Look Out For Jon Rahm 9/1 - Even with the fact that he is the second favorite player in the field, it is so hard to pick against Rahm. The US Open requires all aspects of a players game for them to succeed and that is exactly what Rahm has been doing. In what will be a tournament will have firm conditions, Rahm have the most success in these conditions more so than any other player. Hold your nose, take Rahm to win and take the nine to one payout. Patrick Reed 30/1 - Reed is one of those guys who you will not see a lot of coverage on, he will most likely struggle early on and just chip away at the leaderboard and get close to the top of the leaderboard early on Sunday and remain there as the rest of the groups struggle as the day goes on. Reed should be good for a Top 20 or Top 10 bet. Patrick Cantlay 35/1 - A player who certainly could win this week, Cantlay who has not had his best golf for his previous US Open's, is destined for greatness at one of these eventually. For the 11th best player in the world, 35 to 1 is too large of odds to ignore. Placing on Cantlay to win, as well as Top 5, and Top 10 bets should be the play. Longshots Will Zalatoris 200/1 - Zalatoris has been lighting up the Korn Ferry Tour this season. The 24 year old is currently leading the standings of the Korn Ferry points list by almost 400 points and is going to play on the PGA Tour next year. The Wake Forest grad has not finished outside of the Top 20 since February with 8 of those results in the Top 10. A comfy pairing of his roommate Davis Riley should be able to spur Zalatoris to a made cut, as well as even a Top 20. Rasmus Hojgaard 200/ 1- The European Tour's counterpart to Will Zalatoris, Hojgaard in his last 8 starts has finished inside the top six, six times with one win. While this will be Hojgaard's first major the man from Denmark is already setting himself for high expectations. With the obvious comparisons to Zalatoris, he should be bet the same way with a made cut bet, as well as a Top 20. Props and Matchups Mark Hubbard (-120) over Danny Lee Christiaan Bezuidenhout (-122) over Keegan Bradley Will Zalatoris (-120) over Chez Reavie Rasmus Hojgaard (-115) over Matt Wallace Brendan Todd (-140) over Jordan Spieth Mackenzie Hughes (+109) over Cameron Smith Props Phil Mickelson to MISS THE CUT (+175) Ian Poulter Top Englishman (+1200) |
